spaces of play (and other abandoned materials)

The following is a series of photographs taken in Sturovo, Slovakia and its surrounds. I began documenting compositions in the everyday landscape that spoke of the body in its absence. In particular, I became interested in sculptural qualities of unused play equipment and the possible narratives behind seemingly out of context objects in the street.

WHIP IT! WHIP IT GOOD!

Hello lovers, I feel like I have been sewing my way to nowhere lately as my new set of costumes and masks are getting a more and more ambitious. It is hard not to get completely absorbed in the process; the over lapping of grander and grander ideas and the comfort of studio inertia with coffee and the cat and records on repeat. I recently got the chance to finally shoot (with lights and a model and tripods and all) a new set of work I have been plotting for a while now. Below are a few stills from the day. I reused existing masks from my collection which was heaps of fun. It was great to dust the little guys off again and remember that simple is sometimes best. (No-one notices all that hand stitching anyway!) xx enjoy! xx
